HISTORY & PEDAL

The DuBois House  is one of your first stops on your Love Street Bicycle Tour.

The house was built on the Jupiter Inlet by the Carlin family in 1898 before Henry Flagler’s railroad brought civilization to Jupiter.

Living in a virtual wilderness, all family members worked. They fished for themselves and commercially, raised their own food, had a cow, chickens, and ducks, sold bananas, vegetables, guava jelly, shot intrusive animals for dinner, and more. The children also went to school in Jupiter via a school boat through grade 10. They raised bees, and had up to 600 hives.
